July 4: Alton, Illinois

July 5, 2013 | |

Celebrated America in the heartland of America this year. I have celebrated the 4th in every environment (including once with guns). But this was hands down, the closest to disaster a 4th has ever been for me. At least the pictures were good.

Right as this picture was finishing I start hear frantic screaming. I start to lower the camera and see a big firework going off on the ground (after it fell over). The person next to me grabs my shoulder and seconds later a fireball flies through the inches between us. I could FEEL the heat. Needless to say, I got out of dodge like I was on Seal Team Six. Dives, barrel rolls, crawling frantically through the grass. The closest to a fireworks disaster I have ever come, knock on wood.

February 18, 2013 | |

Oh Mardi Gras, how I have missed you.

Beads: Bringing out the inner monster in everyone since whenever Mardi Gras began.

Dancing in the streets!
Best Place to Shut it Down on the Street: St. Charles

Endymion is already the most dangerous (in terms of getting your head bashed in by beads) parade. This sign increased the danger tenfold.
Most Dangerous Parade Award: Endymion

Seriously, more floats need shadow boxes.
Best Float Design Award: Muses
Also Best Throw Award: Muses

Greatest walking group. Ever.
Parade with the Most Interesting Marchers (and Theme): Tucks

Inspiration: Documentary Photo

February 6, 2013 | |

I just happened upon this photograph recently of the construction of the Hoover Dam, and it is magical. I hope that in the next 50 years I'll be able to photograph some epic construction project like this. Like a space station or something.

Playing around with some outtakes from the "Fooled You Once" series. Pretty rad.

Fall Hike

November 26, 2012 | |

Went hiking in my private forest. Hiking trails are SEVERELY underrated. Ask all my briar scars.

Location for future photoshoot noted.

This is NOT my child. I do NOT have a child. God forbid...

Frenchman Halloween

October 29, 2012 | |

My first "adult" Halloween in New Orleans. And Frenchman is a madhouse. I was very happy that the people here actually put thought and effort into their costumes (and aren't just package slutty ladybugs like I'm used to in Miami). Maybe it's the cold weather, maybe it's the culture, maybe it's Maybelline.

I told him to make a kissy face, but he had a strict policy against duck face.

Amy, finally reincarnated into the soulful black body she always needed.

Deputy Dog

October 15, 2012 | |

It was the Howloween Party at New Orleans City Bark Park and Rocco got the Most Original Costume prize (along with another dog dressed as the Mayor) in the costume contest. The only thing better than being surrounded by puppies, is being surrounded by puppies in costumes.

There's a new sheriff in town.

New York City: Everything Else

My favorite camwhore demanded a photoshoot.

New York City: Industry Bar

September 7, 2012 | |

My friend has a cracker box apartment (read: NYC norm) in Hell's Kitchen and took me to one of his local haunts. I was one of like 5 girls in the entire club, and it was amazing. Everyone was working it for the camera.

Cheating a little bit since I didn't actually take this picture of MYSELF. But it sums up the mood :)

New York City: Architecture

September 6, 2012 | |

I spent two weeks in New York City, which was just enough time for me to really see the city BEYOND all the touristy activities. My inner architecture nerd came out to play.

666 Bond St. - Bond Street is actually my new favorite place in NoHo
